Employment History
ATC Mechanic AA, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), located in Washington D.C. April 1990–present. Repair and maintain automatic train control equipment, including remote terminal units, audio frequency track circuits; and railroad switches. Work in flexible teams of technicians with three to five members per team. Work Assignments are made with priority to revenue operations, corrective maintenance, an d regular maintenance. Work in all weather conditions and travel inside a 150-mile square area to repair problems.
Fire Control Technician FC1 (ESWS), United States Navy, April 1984 – April 1990. Served onboard the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy CV-67 aircraft carrier (1985-1990). Maintained and repaired AN/SPS-48C (V) three-dimensional, long-range air search radar. Repaired radar system’s transmitter, receiver, computer, automatic detection and tracking systems, antenna system and three-dimensional display unit. Repaired component and board level units and high voltage equipment. Worked with regular crew of four to five maintenance technicians. Traveled throughout Eastern Coast of United States, Caribbean and Mediterranean. Supervisory assignments included night shift supervisor for the Electronics and Radar Division, Electrical Team Supervisor for ship’s rehabilitation force, AN/SPS-48C (V) Maintenance Supervisor and Damage Control Work Center Supervisor for Electronics/Radar Division. Honorable discharge received April 1990 with secret security clearance.
